Padel Tennis for Bampton
Recognised as the fastest-growing sport in the world, Padel tennis is coming to Bampton.
As part of the improvements to the Recreation Ground starting in the New Year, a new Padel court will be constructed and is expected to be ready for use next spring.
Combining elements of tennis and squash, it is played by four people on a court enclosed by glass walls and mesh fences, allowing the ball to be played off them. It’s easier to pick up than tennis, with a more forgiving racquet, slower ball, smaller playing area and no overarm serves. This makes it an ideal sport for bringing together friends and families of all ages and abilities.
The Recreation Ground Trust is delighted to introduce this exciting new facility to Bampton. The court will be available to everyone via an online booking system, and, with floodlighting installed, can be enjoyed until 10:00pm. It will be a fantastic addition to the range of amenities already offered at the Recreation Ground.
The Trust would love to hear from anyone who already plays Padel and would like to help establish the sport in Bampton.
If you’re interested, please contact the Trust through the Clerk of the Parish Council at clerk@bamptonoxon-parishcouncil.gov.uk. Further details will be shared in early spring.
