So often we hear and agree that it is the number of volunteers and their tremendous contribution to Bampton life that make it such a great community.

It is especially gratifying that the amazing work of volunteers has been recognised by the award of MBE in the King's Birthday Honours list to an outstanding volunteer, Jenny Chaundy, for services to the community in Bampton. On behalf of us all, thank you and congratulations Jenny.

Jenny has volunteered in the community for many years and has been a driving force behind Bampton Community Shop, Bampton Archive and shop, and Bampton Library.

She organises the activities at Bush Club and has been involved in fundraising for many village projects including helping to save the library, when it was threatened with closure, and the huge restoration project at The Old Grammar School. She helped raise money for the Jubilee Clocks on the Town Hall and even ended up helping to put them up on the building! She helps and supports other community groups with ideas, graphic design, and the promotion of community events.
